WHAT IS KYPHOSIS?
Kyphosis, popularly called “hump”, reserves of spinal cord disease manifested by a greater curvature in the thoracic region. Because of this, the whole aspect of the back changes, forming a more or less obvious hump.
SYMPTOMS AND CAUSES
The symptoms present are:
– Pain in the chest area of the spine;
– Feeling tired;
– Neck bent and head moved forward;
– Shoulders turned inwards;
– Difficulty breathing in severe cases;
– Pain in the neck (neck and neck).
THE CAUSES WHICH DETERMINE THE APPEARANCE OF KYPHOSIS ARE:
– Incorrect position of the body both when walking and sitting;
– Lack of physical exercise that contributes to strengthening muscles;
– In the case of children, rickets, myopia and hearing difficulties lead to the adoption of an incorrect posture.
HOW IS KYPHOSIS TREATED?
Depending on the degree of curvature of the spine, there are specific treatments, as follows:
1. Mild cases
– For postural kyphosis, apply exercises to tone the back muscles, correct the position by wearing a memory harness and rest on a bed with a hard mattress.
– For structural kyphosis, treatment by age and sex is applied. Mostly, this involves physical therapy and painkillers.
– Kyphosis caused by osteoporosis, in the absence of pain, requires only adequate treatment to cure the latter, to avoid possible fractures and aggravation of kyphosis.
2. Tomb cases
The methods of restoring the spine in these situations involve the use of a special corset that has the role of slowing down the evolution of kyphosis and correcting posture. In extremely severe cases, surgery can also be performed.
